An in-person retreat October 17–19

at The Home, Albanyà, Catalonia

Do you want to expand your way of thinking and feeling about the world
in order to find your way of inhabiting it and influencing it?

A journey in three stages

We understand meaning as the synthesis of what we feel and what we think the world is, ourselves and our place in it, what it means to do things well, and how we project ourselves into the future to begin our journey. Meaning is the common thread running through our exploration, divided into three modules: essence, projection, and action.

Learn and grow thanks to inspiring testimonials, theoretical frameworks, conversations and debates, practical applications, moments of introspection, and the discovery of magical places and projects.

2024 Edition
This journey is for you if...

You are concerned about the state of the world and want to do something about it.

You are looking for inspiration, knowledge, and useful tools,

community, and motivation to start taking action and exercising your agency.

We want to bring together people united by the search for meaning, concern for the state of the world, and the willingness to get involved.

/Students who want to complete their education and plan their next steps wisely.
/Managers seeking a vision and leadership style that respond to the challenges of our time.
/Professionals seeking challenges that give meaning to their work or new career horizons.
/Retired people who want to approach this stage of life in an active and meaningful way.

“It is a very innovative course in which I have learned a lot from people with different knowledge than mine. I leave with more hope and a strengthened spirit of struggle and resilience.”
Luis Aranguren
Traveler Edition 2024

What makes this journey special?
A unique retreat

The retreat is the centerpiece of the journey, the space/time that guides and travelers will share for the first time away from their screens. We have chosen a very inspiring location, home to a pioneering project.

For this pivotal moment, we needed a special place, and we found it. THE HOME, much more than just a house…

The Home is not only a cozy house in an inspiring setting, but also the home of Pioneers of Our Time, a project that aims to contribute to co-creating a model of the world in which they want to live, a world where people coexist in harmony with nature:

The Muga Valley project. A benchmark project for systemic regeneration (environmental, social, and economic) in Spain that we will have the opportunity to learn about from its founders.

Reduced and selected group

We want to ensure that the experience is optimal. To do so, we have decided to limit the group to a small and diverse group of no more than 20 participants.

In addition to quantity, quality is also important to us. We are looking for an intergenerational and diverse group, with a variety of experiences and perspectives. What unites them: the search for meaning, concern for the state of the world, and the willingness to get involved.

A counter-cultural methodology

In order to understand reality and design this program, far&sound is committed to an approach that is: Profound and steady / Broad and inclusive / Generative and hopeful

In an era characterized by multiple urgent and complex crises, by speed and overstimulation… we foster spaces and times for thoughtful reflection and the exploration of meaningful and profound knowledge.
In an era where reason prevails over emotion… we build bridges between science and art, reason and emotion, rigor and poetry, philosophy and practice.
In an era where feelings of emptiness and powerlessness lead us to denialist or collapse narratives… we foster conversations that sow hope and encourage connection.

Format and content

PRE-JOURNEY: LISTENING AND LEARNING

3 online sessions / Oct. 1–Oct. 15

CONDITION: The journey begins with preparatory work aimed at ensuring we start the trip in the best possible condition. To this end, we will focus on two fundamental topics: generative listening-communication and awareness of the different ways of understanding the world.

STAGE 1: COMMON WORLD, COMMON CHALLENGES

RETREAT Oct. 17–19 + 4 online sessions Oct. 22–Nov. 12

ESSENCE: The journey begins with a period of deep inquiry into how we feel and understand the world and its challenges. The stage begins with an in-person retreat, an opportunity to strengthen our connection with the group and with the natural environment. At the retreat, and in the subsequent online sessions, we will enjoy inspiring testimonials, deep conversations, and introspective work.

STAGE 2: CONNECTING WITH THE WORLD WE WANT

5 online sessions / Nov. 19–Dec. 17

PROJECTION AND ACTION: Based on a better understanding of the world and its challenges, we will imagine new ways of living and inhabiting the world together.

We will conclude the journey by addressing individual involvement. In this final stage, each participant will reflect on how they want to and can contribute to achieving this desired vision, individually and/or collectively. They will reflect this in a manifesto that they can share with the group.

Duration and commitment

The journey lasts 12 weeks (from October 1 to December 17) and totals 100 hours.

Each week there will be a 2-hour online session (Wednesdays from 7pm to 9pm) and participants will need to spend approximately 3 hours preparing for each session, viewing pre-recorded material, carrying out practical exercises or guided reflections.

If they have extra time, participants will have the opportunity to delve deeper into the different topics thanks to the media library with resources (bibliography, articles, videos, podcasts).
